Martijn Snoep reappointed as Chairman of the Board of ACM

The Dutch Council of Ministers has approved the reappointment of Martijn Snoep as Chairman of the Board of the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM). Mr. Snoep’s new term will start on September 1, 2025. The Board of ACM further consists of Members of the Board Manon Leijten and Martijn Ridderbos. The reappointment was finalized after a positive recommendation by ACM’s Advisory Board.

Jeroen Kremers, Chair of ACM’s Advisory Board, comments: “Having a well-functioning, independent ACM is vital to the Dutch economy, particularly in this time of economic transitions and geopolitical developments. Martijn Snoep is the right person for taking the organization to the next level, and making ACM’s oversight ready for the future.”

Background

Since September 1, 2018, Mr. Snoep has been the Chairman of ACM. His portfolio includes competition, strategy and communications, and legal affairs. Mr. Snoep obtained his law degree from Erasmus University Rotterdam. Until his appointment at ACM, he worked at De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek for 28 years. Operating from both their Amsterdam and Brussels locations, Mr. Snoep gave advice to businesses about the application of competition law in the Netherlands and abroad. As managing partner, he stood at the helm of the firm between 2010 and 2016.
