DTe: Electricity Price for Small Users Unchanged for 2003

The Office for Energy Regulation (DTe) has decided that the price of electricity for small users (mainly consumers) will not be increased in the third and fourth quarters of 2003. Since the price fluctuations have remained within a certain bandwidth, the measurements carried out by DTe will result in unchanged tariffs, despite an increase in the oil price. This is the third time that DTe has set the electricity price for small users on the basis of the method approved at the end of 2002.

This year, the tariffs will not be measured again before the fourth quarter because most of the energy traders have already purchased electricity for the rest of the year. As results, the procurement price of electricity has been set for 2003. Four times a year DTe assesses whether the electricity prices for small users have to be adjusted. Adjustment takes place if trends which affect the level of the procurement price of electricity, such as rising fuel costs, make it necessary to do so.

Information on the tariffs that have been set and the method used can be obtained from DTe's website.
