DTe: Customers of Bankrupt EnergyXS Not without Power
The customers of the bankrupt electricity company InfraXS Energy B.V.(EnergyXS) will not be left without power, because an arrangement has already taken effect which means that these customers can fall back on an emergency supplier. This ensures that the former customers of EnergyXS are guaranteed an uninterrupted supply of electricity. All the customers of EnergyXS will be informed of this procedure by means of a letter from their grid manager.
As of today, small consumers will be supplied at the regulated tariff for grey power. Since DTe also withdrew EnergyXS's supply licence today, electricity will be supplied initially by the emergency supplier and subsequently by the regional licence holder for grey power. DTe is of the opinion that no surcharges for administrative costs, imbalance or other items may be charged for this supply. This leaves small consumers free to opt at any moment for green power from a supplier of their choice.
For large customers (medium-sized and large companies), there is no standard regulated tariff because this market has been liberalised. Use is also being made of the services of the emergency supplier to supply electricity to these customers. The grid manager may charge a tariff for this, based on the prices quoted on the Amsterdam Power Exchange (APX). This tariff is the average of the APX daily price for two weeks as of today. A fixed amount may be charged for administrative costs in addition to this. DTe has stipulated that this amount may not exceed an amount which is usual and reasonable in the sector. Large customers must enter into a new supply contract within a period of two weeks (10 working days) with a supplier of their choice.
Following the bankruptcy of EnergyXS, further questions have been put to the parties involved with regard to the possible causes of the bankruptcy.
