DTe Approves Amended Tariff Code

The Office for Energy Regulation (DTe) has approved the amended Tariff Code. The managers of the electricity grid apply the Tariff Code in determining their tariff proposals, which DTe assesses on the basis of statutory criteria. The grid managers may subsequently charge their customers these tariffs for electricity transmission.

On the basis of the responses and experience of customers and grid managers with the present Tariff Code, DTe has amended the Tariff Code in a number of respects. For instance, a scheme has now been included with regard to the tariff applied by the grid managers for public lighting and other street furniture, such as bus shelters. In addition, the grid manager must draw up a specified statement for the construction of non-standard connections, such as those for large companies, so that customers can check what activities have been carried out.

This decision concludes an intensive evaluation process, which has lasted for more than a year. In the autumn, further amendments will be made to the Tariff Code to bring it in line with the new regulatory regime for the second regulatory period starting on 1 January 2004. As of 1 January 2004, the grid managers will start working on the basis of the amended Tariff Code.

The Tariff Code is obtainable from DTe's website.
