DTe Investigates System Used for Switching

The Office for Energy Regulation (DTe) will carry out a so-called 'quick scan' in the coming weeks on the premises of various regional energy companies. During this investigation, the regulator will ascertain what measures have been taken by the companies to realise switches which were initially not realised due to an error. DTe will assess the measures on the basis of their feasibility, effectiveness and timeliness. DTe will publish the results of the investigation at the end of April.

In addition, the regulator will analyse the measures taken by energy companies to avoid and solve problems that arise in relation to billing, such as incorrect invoices due to the use of incorrect data.

DTe is conducting this investigation partly following a request for such an investigation made by Lower House of the Dutch Parliament to the Minister of Economic Affairs. DTe regards the smooth implementation of switches to be of considerable importance in the light of the further development of market forces and competition on the energy market after its liberalisation on 1 July 2004.
