NMa: Asito's acquisition of Meavita Hulp The Hague provisionally approved

The Netherlands Competition Authority (NMa) provisionally permits domestic-care provider Thuiszorg Service Nederland Holding BV, part of facility-service provider Asito Dienstengroep S.E., to acquire the domestic-care activities of Meavita Hulp The Hague in that municipality. This emergency decision ensures the continuity of Meavita's care services and work, while also removing the uncertainty over Meavita Hulp The Hague's existence that the more than 1,500 employees and 7,000 clients had.

Normally speaking, undertakings are only allowed to proceed with an acquisition after the NMa has carried out an extensive investigation and has then given its approval. However, as Meavita Hulp The Hague faced the imminent threat of bankruptcy or moratorium, the NMa made an exception. This does not take away the fact that the NMa will still issue a formal decision on the admissibility of the acquisition. The emergency decision does not prejudge that formal decision in any way.
