Research by Decisio on the benefits of account number portability
Commissioned by the ACM, economic consulting firm Decisio has developed a framework that can be used by a European member state to quantify the benefits of account number portability. The framework takes into account the specific market conditions in a member state, e.g. with respect to the level of adoption of innovative financial services (FinTech), differences in price levels and switching rates. The framework has been applied to the Netherlands. This application shows that it is also important to quantify the indirect benefits, because they are relatively large.
