New rules regarding bankruptcy of energy companies

Following a decision of the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM), large businesses are, from now on, also assured of electricity and natural gas if an energy company goes bankrupt. Anita Vegter, Member of the Board of ACM, explains: “Consumers had always been assured of electricity and natural gas. Those rules now apply to large businesses as well.”

Procedures have been harmonized

The new rules ensure that large businesses are automatically assigned a new energy company if they are unable to find a new energy company quickly. Under the previous rules, they ran the risk of getting cut off.
