ACM: websites of Dutch public broadcasters now comply with the cookie rules

The Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) has established that the websites for which Netherlands Public Broadcasting (NPO) is directly responsible currently comply with the rules on storing cookies.

ACM has assessed the current situation after it imposed an order subject to periodic penalty payments on NPO in July in order to force NPO to apply the cookie rules to its websites correctly. NPO now informs visitors correctly about cookies, and it requests their consent in the correct manner. NPO therefore now complies with the cookie rules that ACM enforces.

Since NPO failed to comply with all of the requirements set by ACM in the order subject to periodic penalty payments within the time limit of four weeks, NPO does have to pay a penalty payment of EUR 25,000. However, the desired improvements have been implemented correctly since, which means that no other penalty payments have been imposed.
