Health care provider in central Netherlands is allowed to acquire rival provider
Dutch health care provider Stichting De Opbouw is allowed to acquire rival provider Stichting Verpleging en Verzorging Beukenstein (hereafter: Stichting Beukenstein). The acquisition has been cleared by the Netherlands Authority for Consumers & Markets (ACM). Clients of both health care providers will continue to have sufficient choice after the acquisition.
In the central part of the Netherlands, Stichting De Opbouw and Stichting Beukenstein offer similar selections of health care services. Activities of both providers include personal care and nursery services, assisted-living facilities, care homes and nursing homes. After the acquisition, the activities of Stichting Beukenstein will be housed in different divisions of Stichting De Opbouw.
Based on its investigation, ACM concluded that, after the acquisition, sufficient competition from other health care providers in the region will continue to exist.
