European cooperation results in action against manufacturers of milking robots in Denmark

The Danish Competition and Consumer Authority has taken action against a subsidiary of Lely Scandinavia, a Dutch manufacturer of robotic milking systems, and against several Danish firms for violations of European and Danish competition law.

These firms had fixed prices and shared markets, among other violations.

In late-2011, the then Netherlands Competition Authority, one of the predecessors of the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets, provided the Danish authority assistance in gathering evidence in the Netherlands at the Dutch parent company of Lely Scandinavia.

This case shows that national competition authorities in the EU are increasingly working together, and that cooperation is becoming closer and closer.
