ACM refers Nokia spam case to Belgian and Finnish regulators

The Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) carried out an investigation into Nokia Netherlands following consumer complaints about potential spam. Through anti-spam website www.spamklacht.nl, ACM received complaints from consumers about receiving text messages from Nokia without their consent. This is considered spam.

ACM was unable to establish that Nokia Netherlands was the sender of these text messages. However, it is suspected that these text messages were sent from outside the Netherlands.  ACM has thus sent the Belgian and Finnish regulators requests for enforcement actions, in which ACM asks its fellow regulators to take up this matter.
