Under the Dutch cookie act, websites are required to inform their visitors about and to ask them for their consent for storing or accessing cookies or other data on their computers, laptops or mobile phones. This requirement does not apply to cookies that are critical to the technical operation of the site. ACM regularly receives questions from businesses, government agencies and other organizations about the cookie act. ACM regularly updates this document by adding new questions and answers. This publication is an update of the version dating from July 2013.
ACM does not offer any legal advice. It is the responsibility of businesses and website managers themselves to implement the new cookie act to their own websites. Consumers who wish to have more information about cookies may contact ConsuWijzer.
