PostNL retracts request for compensation of net costs of universal postal

Following the letter from Minister of Economic Affairs Henk Kamp to the Dutch House of Representatives of March 27, 2013, Dutch postal company PostNL decided to retract its request for compensation of the net costs for 2011. As a result, the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) will therefore no longer review said request. It means that other postal companies no longer have to co-pay the net costs incurred by PostNL in 2011 for its execution of the universal postal service (UPS).

In his letter, Mr. Kamp announced he would take steps to safeguard cost recoverability and affordability of the UPS. These steps still need to be worked out further. Once they have been fleshed out, ACM will help make a projection of their impact.
