Pilotage tariffs to increase by 1.66% in 2022

The Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) has set the pilotage tariffs for 2022. These tariffs will increase by 1.66% compared with 2021, which is in line with the tariff proposal put forward by the Dutch Maritime Pilots’ Association (NLC). For 2022, the number of pilotage operations is expected to increase by 2.38% compared with 2021, as a result of the modest economic recovery. This mitigates the effect of several cost increases implemented by Dutch pilotage company Loodswezen.

ACM is of the opinion that the tariffs are reasonable, meet the requirement of cost-oriented pricing, and that they are based on a reasonable return. In addition, ACM believes that the tariffs sufficiently help increase the efficiency of the pilots’ working methods, as well as the productivity and quality of the pilotage service.
