Martijn Ridderbos appointed to ACM’s Board
The Minister of Economic Affairs has appointed Martijn Ridderbos to the board of the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) from 1 January 2025. Ridderbos will work closely with fellow Board Member Manon Leijten and Chairman Martijn Snoep. His tenure will focus on combining a supervising role in consumer protection with operational management and organizational development. He will also lend his support to the further professionalization of the organization. ACM has grown as an organization in response to the expansion of its supervisory remit, which now encompasses areas such as digital platforms and energy. With the rest of the Board, Martijn will work to strengthen the foundations on which the organizationcan build as it continues to fulfill its vital societal mission.
Martijn Snoep, chair of the ACM board, welcomes the appointment: “We are delighted that Martijn will be bringing his years of administrative experience to bear at ACM.His expertise in the fields of business operations and IT is sure to be of great value in achieving ACM’s ambitions. We look forward to working with him towards becoming a regulator, fully equipped to ensure that markets operate effectively for people and businesses across the spectrum, now and in the future.”
Martijn Ridderbos is equally delighted: “I am eagerly anticipating this new role, in which as an ACM board-member, I can play my part in protecting consumers. Ultimately, we are all consumers, and I intend to use my knowledge and experience to help shape a society where consumer interests are paramount.”
Ridderbos is currently Vice-Chairman of Leiden University’s Executive Board, a position that includes responsibility for the university’s operational portfolio. Prior to that, he was Group Director of Finances at the Public Prosecution Office and Director of its Service Centre. Earlier in his career, he worked for Ernst & Young and Cap Gemini. Ridderbos graduated in Business Economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam and went on to complete an Executive Master’s in Finance and Control at VU University Amsterdam.
