ACM to keep an extra close watch on energy suppliers DGB and Kikker Energie because of transfer of the customer database
Energy supplier DGB has notified the Netherlands Authority of Consumers and Markets (ACM) of its plans to leave the Dutch energy market on 1 May 2024. All customers of DGB will be transferred to Volti, a so-called reseller of Kikker Energie. ACM will keep an extra close watch on DGB and Volti/Kikker Energie, and will see to it that customers are transferred correctly and that all customers of DGB receive a final bill and are paid out any outstanding credit balances.
DGB has sent all customers a letter informing them that, from May 1, Volti/Kikker Energie will be their new supplier. If customers do not wish to be transferred to Volti/Kikker Energie, they have the opportunity to terminate their contracts before 1 May 2024 free of charge. Customers that accept their transfers will get new contracts from Volti with the same rates and the same end dates. However, the new rules for early-termination fees, which went into force in 2023, will apply to those contracts.
