ACM has appointed four new non-governmental advisors

The Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) has appointed four new non-governmental advisors (NGAs). One of their duties is to help promote international cooperation in the world of competition. The NGAs are experts who come from academia, the legal world, and the corporate sector. Following an open application process, ACM selected four candidates based on their expertise and experience in competition. In addition, they are familiar with the topics of ACM’s Agenda: the digital economy, the sustainability transition, and energy markets in transition. The appointments will commence on January 1, 2025, and will expire after three years.

The new team of NGAs consists of:

• Pauline Kuipers, partner at law firm Bird & Bird
• Hans Vedder, professor of economic law at the University of Groningen
• Sarah Beeston, partner at law firm Van Doorne
• Theon van Dijk, partner at economic consultancy RBB Economics

Role in international network

NGAs play an important role within the International Competition Network (ICN). ICN is a global network of competition authorities. At the network level, practical and current enforcement and competition issues are discussed. NGAs contribute to ICN products by identifying new topics, launching new projects, or commenting on existing products or methods. In addition, NGAs contribute to the public debate regarding competition by attending ICN conferences and workshops.
