The Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) has released a draft decision on further integration of the European electricity market, and making it more sustainable. With this decision, the rules for electricity producers in the Netherlands and in the rest of Europe will converge even further. As a result, it will become easier for these producers to build wind farms and solar farms anywhere in Europe.

The decision is the result of European arrangements about connecting electricity producers to the grid, which have been laid down in the regulation called ‘Requirements for Generators’. With these arrangements, electricity producers are able to play a significant role in voltage stability and frequency stability on the grid.
