ACM and European Commission work together in assessment of T-Mobile’s acquisition of Tele2

Telecom operator T-Mobile plans to acquire its rival Tele2. The European Commission will assess this planned acquisition. The Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) will share its knowledge with the European Commission because of this planned acquisition’s significance for the Dutch telecom market. In addition, ACM will carry out market research that will be an important input for the European Commission in its assessment of the acquisition.

ACM will not submit a referral request. ACM believes that, in this case, the European Commission is best placed to assess this acquisition, given that the Commission is currently also reassessing the merger between telecom operators Liberty Global and Ziggo.

ACM and the European Commission would like to hear from anyone in the Netherlands who has any observations, complaints or indications about this planned acquisition.
