ACM organizes conference on the future of the European energy system

On September 24, 2026, the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) will organize the first ACM Energizer conference in Dutch theme park Madurodam. Under the theme ‘Together, we will shape the European energy system of the future’, ACM will bring together prominent speakers from the European energy sector.

With this conference, ACM wishes to stimulate the dialogue on how to keep energy affordable during the transition to an energy system that is climate-neutral and more sovereign. The European energy landscape is changing rapidly. Geopolitical developments and the acceleration of the energy transition present both challenges and opportunities. The central idea is that no single company, country, or sector is able to tackle these challenges alone. Cross-border collaboration and innovation are key.

Manon Leijten, Member of the Board of ACM, explains: “The task ahead of us is large, but we do not have to face it alone. By learning from one another in Europe, aligning our ambitions, and truly working together, we will be able to build an energy system that is flexible, resilient, and affordable. With the Energizer, ACM wishes to take a next step in this collaboration.”

• Professor Sir Dieter Helm, Professor of Economic Policy at the University of Oxford and Fellow in Economics at New College (via a pre-recorded presentation)
• Coby van de Linde, former director of CIEP, and senior fellow at CIEP since 2024
• Manon van Beek, CEO of TenneT
