Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets will not be launched on January 1, 2013

The new regulator, the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM), will not be launched on January 1, 2013. The so-called Establishment Act, which makes possible the creation of the ACM, has yet to be brought to the floor of the Dutch Senate. That is currently scheduled for February 5, 2013.

Until the Establishment Act comes into effect, the Netherlands Competition Authority (NMa), the Netherlands Independent Post and Telecommunications Authority (OPTA) and the Netherlands Consumer Authority continue to exist as separate authorities.
