DTe Wants Customers to Receive Clear Energy Bills
The Office for Energy Regulation (DTe) has noted, partly due to the large number of complaints, that energy bills are still not sufficiently clear for customers. For this reason, DTe will soon meet Dutch energy companies to formulate unambiguous criteria which energy bills have to meet.
It appears from the complaints that it is not always clear how the energy companies incorporate the maximum tariffs for gas and electricity set by DTe in their tariffs. One of the causes of this is the fact that the period to which the invoice relates often deviates from the period for which the tariff is set. As a result, it is not possible for many consumers to ascertain whether the amounts on their invoices are correct. DTe advocates the proper operation of market forces and competition on the energy market, which will ultimately benefit consumers. This should include an energy bill which enables consumers to determine independently whether the bill is correct.
