Network code regarding harmonised transmission tariff structures for natural gas (NC TAR)

ACM implements the network code on harmonised transmission tariff structures for gas (NC TAR) through an amendment of the Tariff Code for natural gas. On this page, you can find all the information about the implementation of the network code and about the relevant process.

What is the NC TAR?

The NC TAR describes the method that is used for calculating the gas-transmission tariffs on the basis of the transmission system operator’s revenues (which have been set in the method decision). In that context, ACM sets, among other things, a reference price methodology, certain discounts, the multipliers, and the seasonal factors. The integral text of NC TAR can be found on the website of the European Commission.

The NC TAR also contains several obligations with regard to the transparency of procedures towards settings the tariffs and the consultation on certain parameters.

  • ACM is required to publish every year the information about the background of the tariffs.
  • ACM is required to consult the market once every five years about the reference price methodology it has set.
  • ACM is required to consult the market and its neighbouring countries each year about the discounts, the multipliers, and the seasonal factors.

This has been decided by ACM in a task division decision.

NC TAR can be found on this website of the European Commission.
