NMa 2010 Annual Report

The options for the Netherlands Competition Authority (NMa) to exchange information with other regulatory bodies are too restricted. "The Dutch Competition Act does not allow the NMa to pass on information about activities other regulators have oversight on to, for example, the Dutch Tax Administration or the Fiscal Information and Investigation Service", says Henk Don, acting chairman of the Board of the NMa, in connection with the release of the 2010 NMa Annual Report, whose theme this year is cooperation. Mr. Don continues: "It would be wonderful if these statutory restrictions were removed, because close cooperation with other regulatory bodies does pay off."
